Secrets of Internet Business Success Part Two
Succeeding on the Internet comes down to understanding the basics. You need to pick a good market. You need to find out what they are willing to buy. And you need to use a proven marketing system.
List building is the next step in the process.
The people who join your list will buy things from you. That means your list is where all the profits come from. To extract those profits, you need to focus on list building.
The majority of your success on the Internet is due to generating traffic and getting those people to join your list. It’s rather easy to do this. Here’s how…
STEP ONE: Adopt the mindset that list building is the focal point of your business. In other words, put all your effort into getting people to opt in to your list. Everything you do should have this single end in mind.
The second part of the process is to put up a landing page with an opt in web form. The reason you give website visitors for opting in is to get a free information product (like report or audio or ezine subscription) they want.
Finally, start marketing the opt in page. A number of website marketing methods exist. They all have their good points and bad points. Below are the ones I like.
What I rely on to get more website traffic is joint ventures with ezine publishers, ezine ads and targeted articles.
Article marketing is simple. You write up a 500 to 600 word article about a topic your market is interested in. At the end of the article you include a resource box with a link to your lead capture page.
It’s a good idea to get a couple of articles out each week. Use article submission services to submit the articles for you. Doing it yourself takes forever.
Publishers of ezines tend to accept advertising in the form of classifieds or solo emails. Contact the ezine publishers in your market and find out which ones you can advertise in.
Keep in mind, the name of the game is to drive traffic to your lead capture page. So your ezine ad is nothing more than and ad for your lead capture page and the free offer you have there.
Joint ventures are a little more tricky. The idea is to find people in your market with lists who are not direct competitors. Then ask them to promote your free offer to their list. And, of course, you’ll do the same for them.
Joint ventures work when there is reciprocation. In most cases, you can’t expect a joint venture partner to promote your free offer if you can’t promote something for them in return.
Another huge point: Do something every day to drive traffic to your lead capture page. Consistency is the big key to growing your list. The more you focus on traffic generation the bigger your list will get.
Next time I’ll go over some of the basics of monetizing the list.

Amazing post. Your Web site content should be driven by the nature of your business. If you’re a real estate agent, your site should feature photographs of homes you have for sale and information on buying and selling a home.
