How A Hobby Can Become A Profitable Business

Your hobby can be an excellent tool for helping you to escape the so called ‘rat Race’. You can be your own boss and have financial independence.

If you have a hobby, why not treat it as a home based business. As such it could provide financial independence for you and yours. Even if you are walking in clover financially and just want to enjoy your hobby, it just might make you wealthy also!

Whatever your hobby is, someone is making money with it on the internet. We are a part of the information age where information reigns and those that have it are the kings. It seems as though everyone wants more and more information and the way to get it is to take a trip on the Information Highway. The internet is expanding at a phenomenal rate and more people are using it for longer periods of time. Just last year internet usage grew by another 16 percent.

At last count there are a reported 105,170,327 active web surfers in the US and 165,745,689 people in total who have internet access. In fact, there are around 450 million surfers around the world with over 250 million of those regularly surfing through cyberspace.

Information Highway surfers search for information on every subject imaginable. You might think that your Hobby is unique and no one else is interested in it or that you could not make money from it. WRONG! As the Scriptures say “there is nothing new under the sun”. If it interests you, it will interest someone else also.

Your hobby carries with it some assets that you might not be aware of; your knowledge, experience and expertise. These are valuable commodities that people will gladly pay to have access to. Package these assets suitable for people to download over the internet and BINGO, you have an information product. You might make an ebook or a series of videos; these are easy to produce and are probably the most popular forms of information exchange today.

Oh, Oh, that presents a problem! You don’t know how to write an eBook or make a video. Well it really isn’t as hard as you might think, but until you gain your confidence, you could hire a ghostwriter real cheap. Where to find one? Over the internet of course! Just do a search for the term “eBook ghostwriter” and you will find plenty. You might want to also do a search for “guidelines for hiring a ghostwriter”. You will get lots of tips on what to do and not to do. A couple of my favorite places are www.elance.com and www.guru.com. They also provide guidelines on how to post a request for services as well as how to evaluate the bids you get and how to make sure you get what you are looking for.

That sounds like a lot of trouble, you say. Well, there is a learning curve and it takes some time. However, there is a simpler and quicker way for your hobby to earn for you over the internet. There are probably other hobby enthusiasts that are already selling some information about your hobby via the internet. Find out who they are and become a sales affiliate for them. As their affiliate, if you bring them a buyer, they pay you a commission which can be as high as 75% of the sales price. Now for a $100 product, thats groovy; you didn’t develop it or deal with ghostwriters, etc. but still made $75. Can life be any sweeter? If you use this approach, I suggest you not promote a product that pays less than 35%.

OOPS, you say you don’t know how to promote a product! Well you have a large part of the problem licked because you are an expert on the subject. So - you search the internet for forums and blogs about that subject and make a product review post or comment which includes your affiliate id. People will click on your affiliate link and go to the product owners website for further information. If they buy, you get a commission.

For the sake of brevity, I will cut this off here. I realize I didn’t give some important details on the intricacies of how to do this. I will make some additional posts later. I leave you with this to ponder: many folks, just like you, are making $2,500, $4500, and even $10,000-$25,000 per month as affiliates promoting products they don’t own over the internet.
