My business almost failed because I was pretending

For the first few I did what just about everyone in a home business opportunity does. I pretended to be running a business. I was super organized and sat in on every training seminar. Spent a lot of time memorizing the business, and spent a lot of money.

I had all I was suppose to do completed. I was not going to fail. But the money didn’t come in like it was suppose to. Every network marketer does this same thing when they start out. They spend way to much money-time in the infrastructure their going to use to make a bazillion sales.

To much energy getting set up with best office equipment, and not nearly enough on the very first sale. Even a headset for the phone, and a 800 number. The best info packets, the whole nine yards. And until they get that first sale, all that energy is just a waste.

Those who think when joining a home business opportunity that getting organized at first is the key to success, are more than likely going to fail. When you market and sell first before you organize, you will be more successful because you realized the right order to start with.

Unfortunately, many people are scared of the idea of marketing or selling. It conjures up images of arm-twisting and manipulation, followed by rejection. Selling can be the most rewarding process in the world when both sides feel like they’ve come out winners.

Personally, I’ve found that the “pull” approach to selling works best. Basically, “pull” selling means that you position yourself as someone of value, the expert, instead of the pushy pitch-man. And nobody likes the pushy picth-man.

When you put yourself in this position, and put this strategy to work, new prospects will be eager to use your services, buy your products, join your opportunity. This will be automatic instead of the revolving door of trying to sell people. They will sell themselves and see you as a value instead of pushy.

You can also use the groups and forums to carefully pick the friends that are more likely to be interested in your offer.

Don’t try to be a jack of all trades. If you have more than one product to sell that are in completely different niches I suggest opening another MySpace account to promote that product. This way you stay on message and avoid mixed messages in your marketing efforts.

Take the time to choose eight to ten people that you are going to focus on building deeper relationships with each month. This will allow them an opportunity to get to know, like and trust you before you start to talk about your product or service.

Get personal and build relationships. People first want to do business with a real person and not just a company or product. Make sure to be personable and share from your life and experiences. Make sure your profile doesn’t look like a billboard or commercial. I’ve visited profiles in that past and couldn’t even find the persons name on the page. I couldn’t even send them a personal message by name if I wanted to.

How I overcame fear of talking to prospects in no time

I remember when I would get on the phone with a prospect, and unleash my business opportunity pitch. Then sit and wonder what went wrong and why I was getting nothing but rejection. No mater what I came up with to say to them, nothing worked.

I’m sure many entrepreneurs can relate to getting no where in their phone conversations with prospects. This was happening on just about every call I made. I just couldn’t seem to find the best way to approach this problem.

Getting free leads was not the problem, I have an excellent system for that on the internet. But that was only solving a part of growing my business. I was still only able to sponsor one or two here and there, and I know there are others sponsoring effortlessly many more than that.

I finally came across something that would change the way I talk to a prospect that was perfect. I found I needed to qualify them and see if they were right for my network business, and not get pushy in getting them to join my opportunity.

I got a hold of something that put seventy two new reps in my business, in twelve weeks time. A video interview that changed everything for me. I was in charge now, and basically your kind of like interviewing your prospects to see if they have what it takes to be in your downline.

Making a simple change, like the attitude I was using in my conversation with a prospect. I am building my downline faster and getting hardly any hang ups. I am having a great time with this change I made, and you could be doing the same in your business with this concept too.

Calling prospects was not my strong point, but not anymore

Are you in a home business that has both product and business opportunity? When you talk to a prospect about your opportunity are you getting nothing but rejection? If so, you probably talking way to much about your opportunity.

It wasn’t long ago, I was doing this very same thing. I had this endless speech I was lucky to even finish, before the sound of “click”. Almost every single time, day in and day out. I was wasting my list of warm prospects.

The more I thought about it, there had to be something or someone to teach me the necessary phone skills that were working for them. How to approach and have the right conversation with a prospect. To be in control and get it done.
